Pope Leo IV

Pope Leo XIV to Visit Uruguay, Argentina and Peru in November 2026

The Holy See Press Office has announced that Pope Leo XIV will undertake an Apostolic Journey to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from November 6 to 17, 2026.

During the 12-day journey, the Holy Father will visit ten cities across the three South American countries, offering an important opportunity for prayer, pastoral encounter, and communion with the Catholic faithful.

🇺🇾 Uruguay: November 6–8

The Pope will begin his journey in Uruguay, visiting Montevideo, Paysandú, and Florida from November 6 to 8.

According to the information provided by Vatican News, Catholics make up approximately 36% of Uruguay’s population, making it the country with the lowest percentage of Catholics in Latin America.

🇦🇷 Argentina: November 8–11

From Uruguay, Pope Leo XIV will travel to Argentina, where he will visit Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján between November 8 and 11.

The visit will carry particular significance because Argentina was the homeland of Pope Francis, who was born in Buenos Aires but did not return to his country during his 12-year pontificate.

Pope Leo’s visit will therefore be an important moment for Argentine Catholics as they welcome the successor of Peter to their homeland.

🇵🇪 Peru: November 11–17

The final and longest part of the journey will take place in Peru, from November 11 to 17.

Pope Leo XIV will visit Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco, and Pucallpa.

Peru holds a particularly personal place in the Holy Father’s life. He first arrived in the country as a missionary in the 1980s, later served there as a bishop, and acquired Peruvian citizenship.

His return to Peru is therefore expected to be especially meaningful, allowing him to reconnect with a country where he spent important years of his missionary and episcopal ministry.

✝️ A Journey of Faith

The Apostolic Journey will see Pope Leo XIV visit ten cities over eleven days and will become his sixth international trip.

The visit will bring the Holy Father closer to Catholics in three nations while providing opportunities to encourage the faithful in their Christian vocation and strengthen the bonds of communion within the universal Church.

The detailed schedule has not yet been released and will be announced by the Vatican in due course.

For the faithful of Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru, the upcoming visit is an opportunity to prepare spiritually and welcome the Holy Father with prayer, joy, and renewed hope in Christ.

May Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Journey bring blessings, peace, unity, and renewed faith to the people of Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru. 🙏🇺🇾🇦🇷🇵🇪
