Gospel Reflection 5th August 2026— Matthew 15:21–28

The Canaanite woman came to Jesus carrying a pain no mother would want to bear. Her daughter was suffering, and in desperation she cried, “Lord, help me.” Even when Jesus seemed silent, she refused to walk away. Her faith was stronger than her disappointment.

There are moments when we pray and God seems silent. We may wonder why our prayers are taking so long or why the situation is not changing. Yet today’s Gospel reminds us that silence does not mean God has abandoned us.

The woman remained humble, persistent, and trusting. She did not allow rejection or delay to destroy her hope. Her perseverance eventually received the beautiful response of Jesus: “O woman, great is your faith!”

Perhaps you are carrying a prayer today that you have repeated many times. Do not give up. Keep bringing it to Jesus. Keep knocking. Keep trusting. Even when you cannot see what God is doing, believe that He sees your heart.

May we learn from the Canaanite woman to pray with humility, persevere with courage, and trust God with unwavering faith.

Lord, help me. I may not understand Your timing, but I choose to trust You.
